Northwest Missouri State University Case Study

One of 13 public four-year universities in Missouri, Northwest Missouri State University (Northwest) considers itself “right-sized” – neither the largest nor the smallest in the state but offering the right complement of services students need for a successful, profession-based learning experience. The University is well-known for its education programs and Northwest graduates are employed by school districts throughout the Midwest.

Despite its strong traditions, as a regional university, Northwest was facing challenges of increased competition and population demographics that projected a dwindling number of prospective students over the next decade. Fitchburg State University Case Study

Located in North Central Massachusetts less than an hour from Boston, Fitchburg State University is well-situated next to densely populated metropolitan areas with many prospective students. At the same time, it competes with more than 100 two- and four-year colleges and universities or higher ed institutions within a 50-mile radius to serve those students.

Founded in 1894, the University is dedicated to integrating high-quality professional programs with strong liberal arts and sciences studies. The University has a long history of providing adult-based education and online programming. Southeastern Oklahoma State University Case Study

Expanding access to education has been one of the highest priorities of Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SE) since its inception. Founded in 1909 as Southeastern State Normal School, which offered four years of high school and the first two years of college, the school’s primary purpose was to prepare students to teach in the public schools of Oklahoma.

Reaching underserved populations remains a top priority for the University. Fifty percent of Southeastern’s students are the first generation in their family to attend college, and approximately 28% of its students are of Native American descent. Located approximately two hours from Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Dallas, the University began exploring online learning as a way to expand access to affordable, high-quality education and educational equity.
